On Thursday at 3:30 a.m. officers from Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Russell County Sheriff’s Office and Russell Springs Police Department were dispatched to a residence on A Jones Road in Adair County for a possible home invasion.
Once on the scene, Tony Gregory, 52, was taken into custody.
Gregory had been a wanted fugitive since 2006 for felony fleeing and evading police charges. After a lengthy investigation it was determined that Gregory had unlawfully entered a residence on A Jones Road and identified himself as a Deputy Sheriff in attempt to subdue occupants inside the residence.
The occupants were able to get Gregory out of the residence and secure the door as law enforcement arrived on scene. Once law enforcement arrived Gregory was taken into custody after a brief scuffle. Gregory was taken to Russell County Hospital and later lodged in the Adair County Jail with no bail on charges of burglary, 2nd degree
(forced entry), possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest, impersonating a peace officer and criminal mischief. Deputy Aaron
Rainwater is investigating and was assisted on scene by Officer Nathan
Bradshaw, Deputy Ethan Pike and Chief Joe Michael Irvin.
