The county will test eight new outdoor warning sirens Friday at 10 a.m.

Local Emergency Management Director Greg Thomas said because of the upcoming storm season, they want to make sure the sirens are working correctly.

The sirens are located at the Joe Johnson Little League Park, at the intersection of Hwy. 61 and Hwy. 80, at the board of education, Lindsey Hill, Cane Valley Post Office, Holmes Bend Boat Dock, Knifley and Pellyton. Each siren can also be set off individually as needed.

The county will sound the sirens whenever there is a tornado warning, spotting of a funnel cloud or storms that could cause life threatening harm or damage to property.

After the initial test Friday, the sirens will be tested monthly.
