The Adair County Fire Department responded to a residential house fire on Saturday afternoon at 12:22 p.m. Upon arrival at 3271 White Oak Church Rd., firefighters found a home fully engulfed in fire. Property is occupied by Donald, David and Mike Schweppe. The cause of the fire is unknown and there were 16 firemen on the scene for approximately 2.5 hours. The residence was a total loss.
Sheriff’s Office investigates injury rollover collision involving fire truck
Deputy Sheriff Chandler Staten was dispatched to White Oak Church Road in reference to the structure fire and came upon an overturned 1999 Freightliner fire truck, a tanker truck beings used to shuttle water to the pumper trucks on the scene.
The driver, firefighter Jeff Hadley, apparently dropped off the shoulder of the roadway. Hadley attempted to recover the truck but due to the weight of the truck and the water shifting, he was unable to recover it. The truck struck an earth embankment and overturned. Hadley was treated by Adair EMS then transferred to University of Kentucky for his injuries.
