Sharon Burton is founder and publisher of the Adair County Community Voice, a weekly newspaper in Columbia, Ky. and The Farmer’s Pride, a statewide newspaper that provides hometown news for Kentucky’s farm community.

The Community Voice was first published in 2002 and since then the publication has earned numerous first place awards through the Excellence in Kentucky Newspaper Contest. Sharon is known for her passion for “community journalism” and the need for transparency in government. In 2016 she was the recipient of the Al Smith Award for public service through community journalism by a Kentuckian.

Sharon Burton

Editor/Publisher

Sharon Burton is the founder of Farmland Publications, Inc. and the publisher/editor of the Adair County Community Voice and The Farmer’s Pride. She started the Community Voice in 2002, and the publication has earned numerous awards through the Excellence in Kentucky Newspaper Contest. She is known for her passion for “community journalism” and the need for transparency in government. In 2016 she was the recipient of the Al Smith Award for public service through community journalism by a Kentuckian. In 2019 she received the Lewis Owens Award, presented by the Lexington Herald Leader, in recognition of distinguished service to the community. In 2022, she received the Community Newspaper Champion Award from the National Newspaper Association. She was honored to serve as president of the Kentucky Press Association in 2021.

She and her husband Donnie have one daughter, Toni, and two granddaughters, Emma and Kenzie. Her family has played a major role in the success of the newspaper company, including her parents, Billy and Diane Neat.

Toni Humphress

General Manager

Toni Humphress is general manager and graphic designer at Farmland Publications Inc., the publisher of The Farmer's Pride and the sales representative for The Community Voice. She has essentially grown up in the newspaper business and there isn’t a job or task within the newspaper business that she hasn’t done.

She is a mom to two girls, Emma and Kenzie, and has three bonuses that she loves immensely. When not at work she is spending time with children, enjoys doing DIY projects around the house and learning her way around power tools.

JaCinda Blair

Director of Readership Services

JaCinda Blair is the Director of Readership Services for The Community Voice, the Marketing & Advertising Consultant for The Farmer’s Pride, and a website manager for both. JaCinda’s role with the company goes well beyond her titles, as she has mastered tasks from the production department to readership development.

JaCinda and her husband, Andrew, have two sons, Halen and Hyson.

Kenley Godby

Reporter

Kenley Godby is the News and Sports Reporter at the Community Voice and occasional writer for the Farmer’s Pride. He graduated in 2024 from Lindsey Wilson College with a Bachelor’s in English and a minor in Journalism. At Lindsey, he served a semester as Editor of Lindsey Wilson’s news outlet. He will attend grad school next year for a Master’s of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, having written since he was a old enough to hold a pencil.

He has a dog named Eleanor. When not at work, he spends time with her and his guitar.
