ACMS girls’ basketball holds 8th grade night

Adair County Middle School girls’ basketball honored their 8th grade players on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The school honored the dedication and hard work of the 8th grade athletes and their families in front of a large crowd.
The Lady Indians faced off against Barren County squad in three exciting match-ups.
The sixth-grade team showed tenacity and dedication and came away with a narrow 22-19 victory.
The seventh graders played an equally competitive game but came up just short, falling to Barren County 27-24.
The eighth graders provided the highlight of the night, securing a thrilling 27-24 win with a buzzer-beater three-pointer by Kaylence Bennett. With the game tied and the clock winding down, Bennett’s shot sealed the victory for the team.
The following Thursday, the teams traveled to Metcalfe County for another round of action.
The sixth graders continued their strong play, winning 31-16. The team’s fast-paced offense and aggressive defense were too much for Metcalfe, and they picked up a solid victory.
The seventh graders faced a tough Metcalfe County squad and fell 33-20.
In a heartbreaking finish, the eighth-grade girls narrowly lost 37-35. It was a tough loss, but the team’s fighting spirit was evident until the final buzzer.
