The Adair County Indians basketball team defeated Marion County 82-76 in overtime in the semifinals of the 20th District Tournament on Wednesday night.
In a close matchup with five lead changes and five ties, the Indians persevered. Marion County held an 11-point lead at the beginning of the second quarter, but Adair County maintained a steady pace to regain control.
Three Adair County players set new career highs. Dawson Gilbert scored a career-high 34 points. Landon Blakey recorded a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds, setting a career high for rebounds. John Shehan scored 17 points, also a career high.
The Indians outrebounded Marion County 37-22, which played a significant factor in the game.
The team shot 74% from the free-throw line and 51% from the field.
Marion County shot 52% from 3-point range, hitting 11 total. Adair County struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 15%.
Adair County will face Taylor County for the fourth time this season Friday night at Campbellsville High School at 6 p.m. in the 20th District finals. Wednesday night’s win also secured Adair a spot in the 5th Region Tournament.
