Two Adair County natives were recognized by Kentucky State Police during their Sworn awards ceremony on Friday.
Trooper Zach Giles, a two-year veteran, received a lifesaving award medal.
Trooper Giles was working another incident and stopped a vehicle, and the female was having a medical emergency. Giles and another trooper performed CPR on the patient. According to the doctor at the hospital, his actions saved her life.
“I’m glad I was in a position to help someone when they needed it most. Thankfully everything on that day day worked out for the best possible outcome,” said Giles.
Trooper Grant Robertson, also a two-year veteran, was named the 2024 Post 3 Trooper of the Year.
“The trooper of the year award is given to the trooper who stood out the most at their post; an overall good trooper,” said Master Trooper Jonathon Houk.
“This ceremony is about recognizing the troopers and officers who have gone far beyond the call of duty,” Commissioner Phillip Burnett said. “Whether facing danger head-on, uncovering the truth through determined investigations or showing compassion when it mattered most, these troopers and officers embody the highest standards of our agency.”
According to a press release, 61 troopers, detectives and officers who went above and beyond the call of service were recognized in the ceremony.
The awards presented were for heroic acts of service.
