An Adair County man died after he was apparently trying to take a tree down in his yard and was standing in the roadway when a collision occurred.
Kentucky State Police report that Chad Pegg, 54, of Columbia, died at the scene from injuries he sustained from the collision.
Local emergency services were called to the area of 5450 Greensburg Rd. at 7:08 p.m. on Saturday. KSP was then called to conduct the investigation.
KSP reports that a 1995 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck was parked in the northbound lane of Greensburg Rd. facing south operated by Samuel Derossett, 36, of Columbia. Pegg was standing near the front of the vehicle.
Norma Shirley, 74, of Columbia, was traveling north in a 2010 Ford Edge when she collided with the pickup and Pegg.
Pegg was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Adair County Coroner’s office. Derossett was flown to the University of Kentucky hospital with serious injuries. Shirley was flown to University of Louisville hospital with serious injuries.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Office, Adair EMS, and the Adair County Fire Department responded to the scene. KSP Senior Trooper Dean Lunz is investigating.
