Antioch Church has a rich history in Adair County and a celebration of that will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. The original church was built in 1865 at the current location of 3324 Wheeler Hill Rd.
What began as a group of people who believed in Christ that gathered together and met for worship around 225 years ago is now a church celebrating 160 years at their present location.
The original Antioch Church was built in 1865. In 1945, a new church was built to replace it in the same location. Sunday school rooms were added around 1965.
Over the years, Antioch Church has been home to numerous pastors, some circuit preachers. Currently, Pastor Carol Weddle leads the congregation.
During the celebration, there will be a morning service at 10 a.m. followed by a meal at noon. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate the 160th anniversary and learn more about Antioch Church and it’s history.
