As we move into the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share several important updates about the progress and ongoing work within Adair County Schools. November has been a month filled with positive momentum, celebration, and continued commitment to providing the highest-quality education for our students.
One of the most exciting developments this month has been the release of statewide assessment results. I am incredibly proud to share that every school in our district saw notable increases in student proficiency rates in both Reading and Mathematics.
Last year, all schools were rated Yellow on Kentucky’s overall accountability system. This designation is considered “medium.”
This year, our students, teachers, and administrators achieved remarkable gains: Adair County Middle School advanced to a Green rating, placing it in the “high performing” category, while Adair County High School earned a Blue rating, signifying “very high performing” status.
These accomplishments also translate to strong statewide rankings. Our high school now sits at 40th out of 228 schools in Kentucky, and our middle school ranks 111 out of 318. These are extraordinary achievements and reflect the dedication and hard work happening across our district each day.
New Middle School Update
We are also excited to share continued progress on the construction of the new Adair County Middle School.
The project has reached several important milestones this month. Exterior brick is now being installed on the gymnasium, which will complete the outer structure of the building.
Large windows are being placed at the front of the library and main entrance, adding natural light and enhancing the welcoming design of the facility.
In the coming weeks, exterior doors will be installed, and the HVAC system will be turned on for the first time. This will allow construction crews to work comfortably throughout the winter months.
Inside the building, painting and tile work are underway, and crews have begun installing ceiling tiles and grids. With this level of progress, we anticipate that both the exterior and interior will be largely completed within the next few months.
We are currently reviewing bids for new furniture and expect those decisions to be finalized within the next month. The new school is taking shape quickly, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we move closer to opening its doors.
New Services Coming in 2026
Beyond academics and construction, we continue our focus on student well-being and access to essential supports.
Beginning January 1, 2026, ACPC, ACES, and ACMS will offer after-school supper and snack services through the CACFP program, helping us ensure that students have reliable access to nutritious meals outside the regular school day.
As we break for Thanksgiving, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the families, staff, students, and community members who make Adair County such a remarkable place.
Your support drives our success and strengthens the opportunities we provide for every child. On behalf of Adair County Schools, I wish you a joyful, restful, and blessed Thanksgiving holiday.
