The Columbia-Adair County Fire Department will host its annual chili supper and live auction Saturday, Jan. 24. All proceeds from this event are donated to WHAS Crusade for Children.
The all-you-can-eat chili supper will begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by political candidates speaking. Candidates will be allowed to introduce themselves and speak for two to three minutes to those in attendance.
The live auction will start at 6 p.m. The fire department purchased a pallet, and those items will be auctioned. Several local businesses and individuals have also donated items.
One local business donated 50 hats in a lot that can be customized. A cast iron peddle tractor and two country hams will be auctioned.
Donations are still being accepted and may be given to any firefighter or brought to the fire station Saturday.
The current weather forecast is predicting snow for this weekend.
Firefighter Phillip Richard said that a decision will be made Friday morning on whether to postpone the auction. Stay tuned to local media for updates.
In case of cancellation, the auction will be held the following Saturday, Jan. 31.
