Christmas tree decorating winner announced

The Christmas Tree Decorating Contest hosted by the Adair Genealogy & History Research Center of the Adair County Public Library was an opportunity for businesses, organizations, and other groups to compete for who has the best-decorated tree.
The secret judging was this weekend, and throughout last week, the public was invited to cast their ballots for “favorite tree.” The winners were the Adair Arts Council (First Place); Jakky Hoots, Columbia’s First Canine (Second Place); and Girl Scout Troop 1214 (People’s Choice).
Awards may be picked up at the Research Center any time this week during their open hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. through noon.
There were seven participants this year, and the Genealogy Center hopes for twice as many in the next year.
The trees will remain available for viewing until the end of December during regular business hours of the Research Center.
