Dairy Gauge

The Dairy Gauge Program is a free service being offered by the University of Kentucky to help dairy producers recognize their cost of production and enable them to compare their cost of production against the average costs of other dairy producers here in Kentucky. Producers who choose to participate will be visited on the farm or scheduled to meet at the Extension Office for a 1-2 hour meeting with someone from our Ag Economics Department who specializes in livestock economics. 2023 production records, schedule F, balance sheets, and other dairy production records will be used to calculate and break down the cost of production. After all the participating farms have been met with, a summary report will be developed so you can compare your costs to the averages that were discovered. Your information will be kept confidential and will only be used to develop a summary/average across the industry. To sign up for the program, contact the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service at 270-384-2317.
