Todd Davenport, a Democrat who was appointed as magistrate following the resignation of Republican Daryl Flatt last May, has filed to run for county judge executive.
Currently, Davenport has no opposition on the Democratic ticket, but his entrance into the race assures that the winner in the Republican primary will have a second run in November.
Candidates on the Republican ticket are current judge executive Larry Russell Bryant, former judge executive Gale Cowan, and magistrate Chris Reeder.
The primary election will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2026. The general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. There will be in-person no excuse absentee voting for both the primary and general election.
Friday, Jan. 9, 2026 is the deadline for filing for partisan races that may be on the primary ballot. Tuesday, June 2, 2026 is the deadline to file for nonpartisan races, such as city council and mayor, which will be on the November ballot.
