David Bunch, 77, of Russell County passed away Monday, August 3, 2026 at his residence. He was born on August 7, 1948 in Bryan, a son of the late Lillie Mae York Bunch and Joe Milton Bunch.

David served with the Kentucky State Police from 1974 to 1990, being one of the first K-9 handlers with his dog Rabael. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in Vietnam. David was a former Commonwealth Detective and a striper guide on Lake Cumberland. He was affiliated with Fairview Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Kristal Bunch Mullins (Bill) of Russell Springs; one son, Darron Bunch (Tammy) of Columbia; one sister, Shirley Rebennack (Bobby) of Edinburg, two brothers, Michael Bunch (Sandy) of Jamestown and Doug Bunch (Carrie) of Russell Springs; and three grandchildren, Halee Bunch, Isabelle and Gannon Mullins.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Arcilla Bunch in 2011 and three siblings, Marshall Bunch, Patty Roy, and JoAnn Roy. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, with Bro. Dwan Hadley and Bro. Bill Mullins officiating.

Interment in Free Union Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Roger Pierce, Larry Helm, David Knight, Joey Hoover, Dick Scholl and Bobby Sullivan.

Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
