Donnie Ray Powell, 72, of Jamestown, passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 28, 1952 to the late Bennie and Nadine (Ballenger) Powell.
Donnie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Powell and Bennie Powell Jr.
Donnie retired from Lake Cumberland State Park where he worked for many years as a licensed Sewer Treatment Plant Operator. Before that many knew him when he owned and operated the country store at the Hwy. 55 and Hales Highway intersection.
He married his wife, Barbara, in 1972 and together they shared one son, Chris.
His is survived by his wife, Barbara Susan (Hadley) Powell; one son, Chris (Erin) Powell; two grandchildren, John and Jemma Grace Powell; two sisters, Laverne (Dwan) Hadley and Sherry Powell; one brother, Calvin (Debbie) Powell; a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Mt. Zion Community Church with Bro. Dwan Hadley officiating and visitation will be on Friday at Mt. Zion Community Church.
Wilson Funeral Home in Russell Springs was in charge of arrangements.
