Drug arrest made during traffic stop

On Saturday, Adair County Sheriff Deputy Hunter Tweedy made a traffic stop on a 2000 Kawasaki motorcyle for having expired tags. Upon getting a consent to search by the operator, Deputy Tweedy located drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Jason L. Wethington, age 45, of Columbia, was arrested and charged with failure to or improper signal; no registration plate; no registration receipt; failure to produce insurance card; failure of owner to maintain insurance; trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, methamphetamine; possession controlled substance, 1st degree, first offense hydrocodone; drug paraphernalia; possession of controlled substance, 2nd degree, drug unspecified.
Wethington was lodged in the Adair County Jail.
Arrest was made by Deputy Tweedy, assisted by Deputy Nick Barger and Columbia Police.
