This spring, the Adair County Tennis teams will have new benches thanks to former student and player, Ian Makranszky.
“For my Eagle Scout Service Project, I knew I wanted to do something for the tennis team” said Makranszky. “I really enjoyed the time I spent alongside my teammates, so I decided to improve the courts as a way to show my appreciation for the sport and the school as a whole”.
The materials were donated by Campbellsville Lowe’s. Makranszky and other members of Troop 185 constructed them.
“Coach Stephens and I are very proud of Ian and very lucky to have had him on the team here. This generous gift will be featured at all practices and will allow for a comfortable place to sit and take a break,” said Athletic Director Tyler Maskill. “The Adair community and the tennis team will be very appreciative of this donation”.
The four white benches are proudly displayed at the tennis courts on campus. They are a welcomed addition for the team.
“Although he’s moved on to the Gatton Academy this year, Ian is still a great part of our tennis program. We appreciate him thinking of us,” said Coach Wes Stephens. “That’s the kind of servant leadership we hope all of our kids can learn and grow into.”
“As a coach, I’m super proud that he’s been part of our program and that he’s moved on to do great things,” he said.
