Indians Rally for 14-6 Win Ahead of First Home Game

The Indians overcame an early deficit to earn a 14-6 victory Friday night at Metcalfe, setting the tone as they prepare for their first home game of the season.
The Indians trailed for most of the game after their opponent came out strong in the first half.
The team made adjustments at halftime and responded with a stronger second-half performance to secure the win.
Head coach Cameron Dukes said the team’s focus is on finding a way to win, regardless of the margin.
“Our goal every week is to go 1-0,” he said. “No matter if it’s one point or 40 points, we just care about winning,” he said.
Several players made key contributions in the victory.
Callum Darnell provided a strong performance, carrying the ball 16 times for 51 yards and added three receptions for 35 yards.
Darnell also scored two touchdowns in the second half to lead the Indians to the comeback victory.
Defensively, Tristan Mullins led the Indians with 12 total tackles, followed by Parker Jessie with 11, and an interception that Dukes said helped shift the momentum of the game.
Jaden Wooten recorded three receptions for 39 yards and quarterback Braxton McKinney completed 11 of 17 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown.
McKinney also carried the ball five times for 51 yards.
The defensive line also came up with important stops against the wing-T offense when the Indians needed them.
Now, the Indians will turn their attention to their first home game of the season. The team hopes to carry the momentum from last week’s win into the home opener.
“We just keep handling business the way we do and keep trusting our process,” Dukes said. “We hope to make it a great atmosphere so all the fans can enjoy it.”
The Indians will look to continue their start to the season by staying focused on the process and doing what is necessary to win.
Their first home game will be Friday against Casey County. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
