It’s time for Christmas in Columbia

The town is decorated, and the floats are ready…Christmas in Columbia is here!
Local stores will have plenty of goodies to place under the Christmas tree and several events are scheduled for the special weekend.
As you are out and about, take some time to visit the fifth annual drive-through Christmas in the Park after dark this weekend, which covers the Little League Park on Joe Johnson Rd.
The annual Christmas parade is expected to be one of the best of the best, with a great lineup already registered. There will be several floats and Mr. and Mrs. Clause will once again ride on a fire truck. The award-winning high school band has invited alumni to join them this year as they bring the joy of music to the the parade.
Here are the scheduled events:
• The historic Trabue Russell House will have Santa Claus from 10 a.m. - 11:30am. Saturday. Bring the little ones to see Santa and the whole family to enjoy a taste of the history of our community.
• The City Barn will again celebrate with Christmas at the City Farm, 135 Moore St., from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., with 90+ unique vendors. Admission is $5, with children 12 and under admitted for free.
• The weekend’s highlight – the Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is Saturday at 5 p.m. This year’s parade theme is ‘A Traditional Christmas.’ All entries MUST register by calling the Chamber at 270-384-6020 or email at coladair@duo-county.com. The grand marshal is Trenton page, the 2024-2025 Kentucky State FFA President.
During the parade, Jamestown Street from the Little League Park and bypass to the Square will be shut down along with Burkesville Street from Save-A-Lot to the Square.
• The Chamber of Commerce is hosting its first Christmas Home Tour on Sunday from 1 p.m. through 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at each house or in advance at these locations…Chamber of Commerce, First and Farmers National Bank, Southern Nest Realty (Columbia Office), RLS Studio Salon. Homes on the tour are Richard Schwartz, 201 College Park; Marlton and Beverly Loy, 600 Crestview Loop; Mike and Thelma Robertson, 502 Rice Drive; Benton and Ashton Fudge, 6054 Pelham Branch Road; Elliot and Hailey Burton, 135 Kellyville Road.
• Live nativity scenes will be provided by numerous churches throughout the month at the Citizens Park. The first nativity is tonight at 6 p.m. and will be performed by Bloomington Chapel, who will return tomorrow night (Friday) for another performance. Pickett’s Chapel will take over nativity duties on Dec. 7 after the parade concludes at 7:30 p.m., but all other times will be 6. On Dec. 9, Milltown Church will be at the park. Pickett’s Chapel will return the 12. First Baptist Church will be there on the 14, Gradyville Baptist on the 16 and Through the Fire on Dec. 20.
