Jerry Wayne Burton, 80, of Conover, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
He was born on November 12, 1945 in Adair County to the late Ealie and Bonnie Burton. He was a member of Hickory Church of Christ and a proud United States Navy Veteran. Jerry worked as a sewing machine mechanic and served as a member of the Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Burton; brothers, Elmo Burton, Hulis Burton, Leamon Burton, and Leon Burton; and sisters, Shirley Burton and Rosie Mary Burton.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Wayne Burton and wife Cherilee of Hickory, North Carolina; his daughters, Gail London and husband Gene of Hickory and Kelly Sigmon of Newton, North Carolina; his brothers, Joseph Lee Burton of Columbia, Robert Burton and wife Pat of Columbia, and Edgar Burton and wife Christina of Columbia; his sisters, Nella Lamb of Whiteland, Indiana, and Brenda Deal and husband David of Newton; his grandchildren, Melody Wallace, Russell Franklin, Alexandra Parker-Burton, and Grayson Burton; and his great-grandchildren, Loaiza Franklin, Lizmary Franklin, Kaden Franklin, Christian Franklin, Lucas Franklin, Lilianna Franklin, and Austin Wallace.
A memorial service with military honors to celebrate Jerry's life will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Hickory Church of Christ. Rev. Kevin Bibbee and Mr. Wayne Burton will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
