John Gilbert Kessinger, 67, of Campbellsville, a son of the late Frank Kenneth Kessinger and Barbara Jean (Jones) Abell, was born November 24, 1957 in Louisville, and departed this life on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.
John was a retired construction worker and was of the Baptist Faith. He enjoyed fishing, walking, bike riding, and spending time with family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Gene Thomas Kessinger and a grandchild, Zena Parrish.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Whelan) Kessinger of Campbellsville; three children, Mary Lobb of Campbellsville, John Whelan and Joseph Kessinger of Columbia; six grandchildren, Malea Lobb, Trinity Lobb, Joseph Kessinger, Jr., Damon Kessinger, and Kaden Kessinger; eight great-grandchildren; brothers & sisters, Marion Knifley, Darrell Kessinger & wife Pat, Jason Kessinger, Tony Kessinger, Barbara Elliott, Viola Chaney, Porter Kessinger & wife Toni, Hope Tamez & husband Mike, Laura Oller, and Charles Kessinger; and a host of other relatives & friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 17, 2025 at L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville, with Bro. Darrell Kessinger officiating and burial in Brookside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Damon Kessinger, Joseph Kessinger, Jr, Jason Kessinger, Isaac Alvardo, James Wilson, and Tim Sluder.
