The Lady Indians golf team turned in a strong performance as they hosted the first Lady Indian Invitational, finishing first out of 10 teams with a score of 342.
The tournament included 70 individual golfers, with 64 completing their rounds. Because the tournament was a Tier 1 event, the victory earned the Lady Indians 100 Kentucky Golf Coaches Association All-State points.
With the additional points, the Lady Indians moved to 560 points and remained among the top 15 qualifying teams for the KGCA All-State Tournament.
Ashley Loy led the Lady Indians individually, tying for fourth place with a 77.
Ila Loy also finished among the top golfers, tying for ninth with a 79.
The KGCA All-State Tournament is scheduled for Sept. 12-13 in Lexington. A formal invitation to the tournament is expected to follow.
Coach Ashley Goodin said the team’s performance was especially important because the tournament marked the final opportunity to earn All-State points.
The Lady Indians will now look to carry their momentum into the final stretch of the season.
