Adair County Cattlemen’s Annual Picnic & Membership Drive
The Adair County Cattlemen’s Association will hold their annual membership drive on Monday, September 28th at 6:00 p.m. at the Adair County Cooperative Extension Service. Anyone interested in renewing their membership or becoming a new member is encouraged to attend. Enjoy a ribeye sandwich, fellowship with other producers, and a chance at numerous door prizes. The dues for single membership are $30 and $45 for a couple’s membership. Membership benefits include regular educational and producer networking opportunities, a quarterly county newsletter, and a monthly Cow Country News Magazine. Cattle ownership is not a pre-requisite to become a member. However, several members would be happy to sell you one if you would like.
Kentucky Cow-Calf Summit
The University of Kentucky Beef team will hold their inaugural Kentucky Cow-Calf Summit on October 29 at the L.D. Brown Expo Center in Bowling Green. This summit will allow cow-calf producers to explore opportunities for growth in Kentucky’s cattle industry while also learning from producers, industry leaders and agricultural professionals. Discussion topics will include practical solutions for land access, financing and succession planning and build connections and discovering resources to strengthen your operation.
Featured speakers and presentations include the following:
• Dr. Steve Isaacs, University of Kentucky — Goal Setting: The Bridge Between What You Do and Why You Do It
• Chris Cooper, Central Kentucky Ag Credit — A lender’s perspective on barriers to entry, business growth, and financing opportunities
• John Genho, Eldon Farms, Woodville, VA — Strategies for improving operational efficiency and creating opportunity for long-term success
Tickets are $30 per person, $50 per couple. The program starts at 8:30 am CT. Contact Michelle Padgett, Extension Beef Associate, at michelle.padgett@uky.edu for more information.
