Michael Lee Morris, 84, of Louisville passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his family and the sounds of his favorite bluegrass music. He was born in the Absher community of Adair County on October 7, 1940 to the late Ivan Ray and Gladys Montgomery Morris.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a plumber with Local Unions 107 and 502 until retiring in 1997. Since then, he devoted many hours to fishing on Green River Lake and whatever pond someone would let him on. The only thing that he loved more was eating said fish. He provided his fine catch for many a fish fry over the years. Another favorite past time was searching for road treasures. You may have passed him a time or two with his walking stick on I-65. He always enjoyed delivering a good tale, as well as building hundreds of bluebird nesting boxes.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Cathy Hayes Morris of Louisville; two sons Christopher and Andy Morris both of Louisville; a daughter LeeAnn Morris (Benjamin Bryant) of Louisville; a granddaughter Evelyn Morris and his beloved cat Maggie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Keith and Phillip Morris and two cats, Sushi and Lloyd Jr.
Funeral services were held at 1pm central time Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home and cremation followed the service.
