On Saturday, the middle school football team played their first game. The seventh-grade game was canceled, but the eighth-grade team brought home a victory as they battled through extreme heat and an early morning kickoff.
They defeated Allen County 24-8, marking not only the first win of the season but the first win as head coach for Jason Blackaby.
Josh Baker led the way for the Indians, scoring three total touchdowns.
“It was a long offseason that culminated in a dominant win,” he said. “We still have things to work on but the team is coming together nicely with a large eighth-grade group.”
Tonight will be the first home game of the season. The Indians kick off at 6 p.m. against Metcalfe County.
