Norvelia Kay Barrett, of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Delphus Barrett and Cora (McQueary) Shepherd, was born January 5, 1957 in Adair County and departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2026 in Lexington at the UK Hospital. She was 69 years of age.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Kay enjoyed fishing, camping, being outdoors and being a mechanic, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Stela Grider, Gail Murphy and Cathy Barrett.
Survivors include her spouse, Dorothy Gay of Campbellsville; her children, Garlena Belcher of Columbia, Velinda Carter, and husband Russell, of Campbellsville, Kenneth Barrett of Campbellsville, Joshua Barrett of Columbia, and Laura Barrett, and fiancé Otis Watt, of Columbia; two brothers and three sisters, Doug Barrett of Cynthiana, Georgia Barrett of Arizona, Dewayne Shepherd of Oldham County, Faye Shepherd of Campbellsville, Vera Hawkins of Lexington and Michelle Barrett of Columbia; seventeen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
The family chose cremation. There will be no funeral service.
