Pauline Beard Rodgers, 98, of the Portland community of Adair County, died Monday, February 17, 2025 at Metcalfe Health Care in Edmonton with her family by her side.
She was born August 3, 1926, in Green County, to the late Charlie Francis and Annie Mable Beard. She married Lawrence Nell Rodgers on December 22, 1949 in Ringgold, Georgia and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1989. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Gaynell Lee Rodgers on July 29, 2013 and siblings Mary Frances Napier, Lorine Edwards, Glenn Beard, and Gaynell Beard in infancy.
Pauline was a member of Tarter’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was Treasurer for Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery for over 40 years. She cleaned houses in the area and was a housewife.
Survivors include one brother, Cecil “Pete” Beard of Portland; two sisters, Dimple Parnell of Mooresville, Indiana and Diane Atwell of Edmonton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. on Friday, February 21. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22 at 11 a.m. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Darrell Coffey officiating. Burial will be in Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery which can be left at the funeral home.
Casket bearers will be Brent Beard, Stacy Beard, Ronnie Young, Carl Edwards, Terry Edwards, and Mark Baker.
