A new paylake in Adair County is offering fishermen a local place to enjoy catfishing, combining stocked waters with family-friendly outdoor recreation.
Green River Paylake & Outdoor Store opened in April and has already become a go-to spot for both experienced fishermen and beginners.
Located at 1267 Fairview Road, the paylake was built by Chris and Lisa Burton and sits on one and a half acres.
The facility is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“We stock it every Friday morning at 7 a.m. when we open and then we stock it again every Saturday at noon,” said Chris. “That way the fish bite all weekend continuously. They never slow down. It’s amazing.”
A $25 fishing ticket allows anglers to fish for up to eight hours or catch 10 fish, whichever comes first. The paylake also hosts fishing tournaments throughout the season.
“It takes skills to catch them; I’ll tell you that. It all depends on the bait, time of year, depth and spots. It’s a little science to it,” he said.
In addition to the paylake, the outdoor store offers a variety of rods, reels, live bait and other fishing supplies. As fall approaches, the Burtons plan to expand their inventory to include hunting supplies.
Located about 15 minutes from Columbia off Ky. 206, Green River Paylake & Outdoor Store was created with families in mind.
The Burtons said they are committed to maintaining a safe, welcoming environment where anglers of all ages and experience levels can enjoy spending time outdoors together.
