On December 28, 2024, Kentucky State Police Post 15 Troopers arrested a Russell County man on a charge relating to the sexual solicitation of a minor.
The arrest comes two days after a Kentucky State Police Trooper received a complaint alleging that 33-year-old Zachary Grider of Russell Springs was sending messages to a 15-year-old juvenile through the social media platform, Snapchat. Some messages allegedly contained sexual references.
The preliminary investigation obtained information leading troopers to arrest and charge Grider with procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means.
Grider is well known in Russell County and the surrounding community for his involvement as both an instructor at The Dance Shoppe gymnastics and dance studio in Russell Springs and as a volunteer in the Russell County Arts Council. Shortly after the arrest was made, the Russell County Arts Council released a statement saying they were working to remove him from the council.
“The purpose and mission of the Russell County Arts Council and Star Theater is to provide a cultural outlet for community members of all ages. We do not and will not condone or support this type of behavior from any of our Russell County Arts Council members,” the statement read.
According to a parent, The Dance Shoppe sent an email to parents with children involved in the studio’s programs that Grider was no longer an instructor there and others would be taking over his classes.
After arrest, Grider was lodged in the Russell County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000. The investigation continues and is being led by KSP Trooper Blaine Sharp.
