Teacher indicted on numerous felony charges

Elena Kathleen Bardin, who was initially arrested on April 4, has been indicted by the Adair County grand jury. The indictment lists three counts of sexual abuse, 1st degree; distribution of obscene material to minors; solicitation to murder; and three counts of unlawful transaction with minor, 1st degree, illegal sexual act under 18.
Bardin was a teacher at the Adair Juvenile Detention Center and is accused of committing the crimes with an inmate at the facility.
Based on the charges, Bardin could be facing 10-20 years in prison. She is set to be arraigned in Adair Circuit Court on May 27. Her bond remains at $500,000 cash.
