Boys’ basketball get ready for tournament play

The Adair County Indians went 1–2 over a three-game stretch last week including two district games. The Indians secured the number two seed for the district tournament at the end of this month.
Adair County improved its district standing with a narrow 77–76 win over Marion County on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Landon Blakey led the Indians with 24 points. Tylin George logged a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds.
The Indians were unable continue that momentum Friday, Feb. 6, falling 79–73 to district rival Taylor County in the teams’ third meeting of the season. Blakey led the way for Adair County with 27 points and eight rebounds, while Dawson Gilbert added 17 points and five rebounds. The loss finalized the district standings.
Adair County finished the week Saturday, Feb. 7, with a 62–46 loss to Trinity in a non-district matchup. The Indians were without Tylin George, who was sidelined due to injury. Gilbert scored a team-high 21 points and connected on five of eight attempts from three-point range, while Blakey finished with 13 points.
Despite the recent losses, Adair County enters district tournament play with a 16–8 overall record. The Indians will face Marion County in the opening round of the district tournament on February 25 at Campbellsville High School.
The Indians play at Russell County Friday.
The final home game of the season is Tuesday, Feb. 17 against Caverna. That will also be senior night for the team.
