The Adair County wrestling team earned a dominant road victory January 20, defeating Russell County High School 66-12 in a high school dual meet.
Adair County secured wins in 13 of 14 weight classes, with nine victories coming by pin. Jared Hughes opened the night with a pin at 106 pounds, followed by pins from Trenton Lay (113), Pierce Stotts (120) and Tripp Stotts (126). Andrew Grant added a 14-8 decision at 138, while Eli Iqbal (150), Jared Antle (165), Shyia Smith (215) and Ryder Rodgers (285) picked up wins by forfeit.
Ethan Howard earned a pin at 157, Bowen Furkin won by pin at 175, and Carson Brown posted a 10-6 decision at 190. Brock Jasper (132) and Adrian Zinati (144) suffered losses by pin.
In exhibition matches, Adair County continued its strong performance. Keylin Bergin won by pin at 126, Antle and Iqbal each recorded pins at 150, and Rodgers added a pin at 285.
The decisive win capped a successful night on the road for the Adair County wrestlers.
