On January 5, 2013 Columbia Police arrested 34 year old Andrea Williams of Russell Springs. Williams was charged with 11 counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument and lodged in Adair County Regional Jail. Williams was found to be in possession of a quantity of counterfeit twenty dollar bills. The arrest was made by CPD Ofc. Josh Brockman who was assisted by Ofc. Columbia Police would like to remind everyone especially those in the retail business to give a extra attention to the money they are receiving. In the last few weeks there have been several incidents between Russell Springs and Adair County involving counterfeit money. Most of the cases seem to be involving twenty dollar bills but are not limited to that denomination. Anyone who has information or feels they may have been given counterfeit money is urged to contact Columbia Police Department 270-384-4119 or your nearest law enforcement agency.
