Preparations for the 2017 Adair County Fair are ongoing as Jaycees are still seeking sponsors for the four-day event. Although there will be no motor sports during the 2017 fair, there will be a Cattle Show, a Floral Hall, and several pageants as well as the annual Coca-Cola talent show.
Prize money will be awarded to winners for each event, but those prize amounts have not been set in stone yet as the Jaycees are still working on their preliminary planning for the fair. There will be a $5 gate charge for patrons to view the pageants and shows.
“This year with downsizing and without the motor sports, we’re relying on sponsorships and state aid to help fund the fair,” said Adair County Jaycee Jennifer Carter. “We will be having our Cattle Show at the ACHS FFA building, but the rest of the events are located on or near the former fairgrounds.”
All pageants and shows will be held at the pavilion, but this year the Floral Hall will be held at the Adair County Extension Office, which is located just a short distance away on Fairgrounds Street.
