The No. 19-ranked Lindsey Wilson women’s basketball scored 13 unanswered points late in the game to erase an eight-point deficit en route to a 66-65 win over visiting Georgetown on Thursday night at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders secured the come-from-behind win making all six of their free throws inside the final minute to improve to 20-6 overall and 8-4 in the Mid-South Conference. The Tigers fall to 12-8 and 3-6 in conference matchups.
Trailing 59-51 with 5:14 remaining in the game, Lindsey Wilson elevated its game — especially on the defensive end — to earn the season split with the Tigers.
The Blue Raiders held the Tigers without a point for nearly five minutes — Georgetown missed all eight of its shots and committed three turnovers during the span. A pair of late 3-pointers by Georgetown’s Ashli Mayes is all the stood between Lindsey Wilson and a shutout over the final 5:14. Mayes final trey came as time expired to set the 66-65 final.
