Students at Adair County Primary Center took a stand against child abuse last week by wearing – and hanging – blue ribbons around campus. The display was the result of a joint effort between the Family Resource Center and the Lake Cumberland Children’s Advocacy Center to raise awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
“We want every child to be successful in life,” says ACPC Family Resource Center coordinator Paula Garrison. “We want to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment that is free from abuse and neglect.”
Child Abuse Prevention Month, which was created more than 30 years ago, is a national campaign to raise awareness for, and prevent, child abuse. As part of the crusade, students are educated on ways to identify and report child abuse.
