Country music artist Collin Raye will perform live on stage during Downtown Days, which begins Friday, Oct. 11.
Raye’s music career began to grow in the early 1990s and has since earned him 24 top 10 records and 16 number one hits including “One Boy, One Girl,” “Love, Me,” “That Was a River,” and “That’s My Story.”
He has also been nominated a total of 10 times for the male vocalist of the year award during the Country Music Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Raye will take to the stage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
In addition to Raye’s performance, people can expect several local and regional bands, along with the return of popular annual events.
“We’re always excited about the upcoming new year,” acting City Clerk Rhonda Loy said.
Returning events this year are the Adult Big Wheel Race, which will take place on the Lindsey Wilson hill, and the Couple’s Backseat Blindfolded Lawn Mower Race. A location for that has yet to be announced.
Also returning this year is the Downtown Days 5k. Children 13 and under can participate in their own half-mile fun run.
Both runs will start at the Chamber of Commerce Building.
The Beauty Pageant will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Davenport Family Life Center.
As always, there will be a slew of crafts, food, and vendor booths all around the square. There will also be a kids’ parade with decorated trikes, bikes, and stick horses. A trophy will be given out for the best decorated.
Applications for vendors, the pageant, 5k, and Fun Run are available through the Downtown Days’ website: downtowndayscolumbia.com.
Vendor applications are also available at City Hall.
