Columbia Police charge Adair County man after 4-year-old child was struck by vehicle.
Columbia Police Officers Josh Brockman and Sergeant Tracy McCarol were dispatched to Harvey Street along with Adair County EMS on Wednesday night to a reported vehicle versus pedestrian.
Upon arrival it was found that a four-year-old child was playing in the driveway in view of family and had went out to the edge of roadway when a vehicle struck him.
According to witnesses the vehicle stopped then fled. Officers were able to get a good description of vehicle from witnesses along with additional identifying information of operator. Officers located a vehicle matching the description given to them along with additional evidence. As a result, 39-year-old Rogaciano Hernandez Landa was charged with leaving the scene of an accident hit and run; assault; no operators license; and failure to produce insurance card.
The child was transported to T.J. Health of Columbia and the case is under investigation by Officer Josh Brockman. Additional charges are pending.
