On Jan. 27 Columbia Officer Charles Greer was patrolling on the Veterans Memorial Bypass when he observed a 2002 Green Kia driving recklessly. A traffic stop was conducted for moving violations and upon review with the operator of the vehicle it was found that the operator was Kelvin Wilson, 41, of Columbia, who was in possession of a concealed loaded handgun without possessing CCDW license. Upon further investigation it was also found that Wilson was a convicted felon and prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm. Wilson was lodged in Adair County Regional Jail on the charges of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon; carrying a concealed deadly weapon; no or expired registration plate; and failure to maintain required insurance.
