The Columbia Police Department and the Adair County Sheriff’s Department made several arrests over the past week.
An Adair County man was arrested after leading police officers on a chase while operating an ATV.
At around 12:46 a.m. on Tuesday, Columbia police officer Charles Greer observed an ATV traveling north on Burkesville Street. Green attempted to stop the operator but the suspect refused and attempted to elude officers. The pursuit came to an end when the operator ran the ATV off the roadway and turned over.
Timothy VanArsdale, 35, was arrested and charged with operating an ATV on the roadway; fleeing and evading police, 2nd degree; possession of a controlled substance—methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia. VanArsdale was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. Greer was assisted by city police Sergeant Gary Roy and sheriff’s deputy Aaron Rainwater.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Department located two missing juveniles, a male and female, that ran away from a group home on Monday. Sheriff Harrison Moss and residents John Shehan and Larry Stone helped located the two juveniles on a farm around the Taylor and Adair County line. The male was taken to the Adair County Juvenile Detention Facility while Meade County social services took the female into custody.
The Adair County Sheriff’s Department made an arrest in connection with a burglary on Motley Road on May 1. As a result of the investigation, a warrant was issued for Coy Morrison, 39, of Columbia. Morrison was located and taken into custody by deputy Justin Cross on Thursday, May 9. Morrison was charged with burglary, 2nd degree; manufacturing methamphetamine, 2nd offense; and criminal mischief, 1st degree. Cross was assisted by city police officer John Dial.
