Columbia City Police are investigating the death of a 6-month-old child.
Emergency services were called to 19 Hindman St.at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday for an unresponsive child. Upon arrival EMS began life resuscitating efforts and transported the infant to TJ Health Columbia. The baby was pronounced dead by attending physicians. Adair County Coroner Todd Akin was notified and he and Deputy Coroner Tony Bragg responded.
An autopsy will be performed Wednesday morning at the State Medical Examiner’s office in Louisville with Coroner Akin attending to determine the cause of death.
CPD Sgt. Gary Roy is leading the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Sgt. Jr Murphy and Chief Jason Cross. At this time the case is an active death investigation until cause of death is determined.
