Lindsey Wilson Men’s Basketball faces Thomas More in MSC Tournament quarterfinals
COLUMBIA, Ky. — Lindsey Wilson men’s basketball begins postseason play against No. 18-ranked Thomas More (Ky.) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Saturday at Bowling Green Arena in Bowling Green, Ky.
The sixth-seeded Blue Raiders (17-13, 6-10 in the MSC) and third-seeded Saints (24-6, 11-5) tip-off in the quarterfinals’ finale at 7:30 p.m. CT on the campus of Bowling Green High School.
Lindsey Wilson and Thomas More split two regular-season games — each team winning on the road. The Blue Raiders won at Thomas More 84-75 on Jan. 23 while the Saints won in Columbia 73-60 on Feb. 22.
Lindsey Wilson finished tied for sixth in the standings with Pikeville (Ky.) and earned the tiebreaker based on splitting two games with Shawnee State (Ohio) while SSU swept Pikeville. Lindsey Wilson and Pikeville split their head-to-head matchups this season.
The Lindsey Wilson-Thomas More winner advances to Sunday’s semifinal game against the winner of No. 2-seed Cumberlands (Ky.) and No. 7-seed Pikeville. The championship game is slated for Monday night.
Lindsey Wilson enters the tournament off a heartbreaking 80-79 loss on Thursday night at Cumberlands. The Blue Raiders battled back from 17 points down in the second half to take a lead with 3.3 seconds left. Cumberlands escaped with the win after making a pair of free throws with just over one second left.
Thomas More — in its first season in the MSC — is the hottest team in the conference, winners of nine straight games.
The MSC Tournament begins on Tuesday night with an opening-round game in Lebanon, Tennessee as eighth-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) hosts No. 9-seed Life (Ga.).
Quarterfinal action begins on Saturday, March 7, as top-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) meets the Cumberland-Life winner at 1 p.m. CT. Fourth-seeded Shawnee State and fifth-seeded Campbellsville meet at 3 p.m. CT. Cumberlands and Pikeville play at 5:30 p.m. CT.
Lindsey Wilson and Thomas More are slated to tip at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
