The music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be performed April 21 at Lindsey Wilson College.
Mozart’s “Sonata for Four Hands in D Major” and “Quintet for Piano and Wind Instruments in E-flat Major” will be featured 7 p.m. CT Tuesday, April 21, in W.W. Slider Humanities Center Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature LWC Professor of Music Robert Reynolds and five LWC students. Although none of the LWC students are music majors, all five have extensive backgrounds in studying and performing music.
“They are all excellent musicians, who have been very dedicated to rehearsing for what promises to be a wonderful evening of music,” Reynolds said.
The LWC students who will perform are:
* Samantha Harden, clarinet, an accounting senior from Russell Springs, Ky.;
* Jared Helm, French horn, a Music education junior with a concentration in French horn from Buffalo, Ky.;
* Abigail Keller, flute, a Christian ministries junior from Pewee Valley, Ky., and also a member of the Lindsey Wilson Singers;
* Kendra Phillips, bassoon, a human services and counseling senior from Radcliff, Ky.;
* and Hannah Warren, piano, a journalism and media studies junior from Columbia, and also a member of the Lindsey WIlson Singers.
The performers in the woodwind quintet are members of the Lindsey Wilson College Band, which is directed by Director of Instrumental Ensembles Tim Allen. Warren has studied under Reynolds, who has taught at LWC since 1980.
In addition to piano, Reynolds also teaches music history, music theory and American Music, and he performs throughout the region as a soloist and chamber musician. Reynolds holds a doctorate of musical arts in piano performance from the University of Kentucky.
