Renee Hurd is the Mid-South Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week and teammate Janice Brown is the MSC Field Athlete of the Week, conference officials announced on Tuesday.
The weekly award is Brown’s second of the season while Hurd captures her first. Brown also captured the honor on March 24.
Hurd recorded three top-five finishes on Saturday at the Centre (Ky.) Invitational.
The Pensacola, Florida, senior teamed with Brown, Kevia Gonzales and Chanel Roberts to finish second in the 4×100 meter relay event. Hurd added another runner-up finish with a time of one minute and 8.37 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles.
Hurd completed her track events with a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.27 seconds.
Brown won both field events she competed in on Saturday at the Centre.
The Manchester, Jamaica, junior took her first victory in the long jump with a distance of 5.32 meters. Brown then dominated in the triple jump, winning the event by nearly a full meter with an 11.70 meter leap.
Brown added a pair of top-10 finishes in 4×100 meter relay and 100-meter dash in her two track events.
The Lindsey Wilson women’s track & field team finished third as a team at the Centre Invitational.
