County Clerk Lisa Greer has validated a petition filed by the Progress in Adair County PAC committee and the county judge has set an election date of March 22.

Greer reported that 1587 signatures were certified, well over the 1039 needed to put up for vote a question of selling alcohol in Adair County.

The certification was sent to County Judge Executive Mike Stephens, who is responsible for setting the election date.

The election must be held between 60 and 90 days after the petition is filed. Stephens selected the first possible Tuesday for the election.

The question on the ballot will be:

“Are you in favor of the sale of alcoholic beverages in Adair County?”
