Adair County students will be heading back to a whole new campus in August. Two schools will be closing their doors and a new school will open.
Administrators have to make some tough decisions, however, long before the new school year begins. A major school reconfiguration and a reduced budget will play key roles in how the school district is operated in the 2013-2014 school year.
CUTTING JOBS AND CLOSING SCHOOLS
The district will open the brand new school facility, Adair County Primary Center, in August and students in preschool through eighth grades will be spread throughout three schools instead of four.
• Adair County Primary Center – Kindergarten through second grade.
• Adair County Elementary School – Preschool and third through fifth grades.
• Adair County Middle School – Grades six through eight.
With the school reconfiguration, the district will reduce staff positions because the district will operate one less facility.
The school district will cut 23 jobs beginning the next school year by either eliminating the position or not filling a position after a retirement.
