Adair County students compete in national Crosley art contest
Adair County High School students are competing in a nationwide art contest featuring customized Crosley Cruiser record players. The winner is determined through public voting.
The Crosley Custom Cruiser Contest features students from more than 200 high schools across the country who have transformed the company's iconic suitcase-style record players into original works of art.
Voting begins Monday and continues through Friday. Visit crosleyradio.com/cruiser-contest daily to cast your vote. Adair County is in region three.
Regional winners will advance to a national judging round. Crosley representatives will evaluate the entries based on creativity, craftsmanship and storytelling to select the grand prize winner.
The grand prize includes $2,500 for the school's art program and up to 25 Cruiser record players for participating students. Schools placing second through fifth will receive $500 for their art programs. An additional Social Standout Award will provide $500 and up to 25 record players to the school selected by Crosley for the best social media campaign surrounding the project.
This year's contest theme, "Crate Culture," challenges students to explore how vinyl records and analog music bring people together and celebrate the culture of independent record stores.
Each participating school received a Crosley Cruiser record player to customize using artwork, paint and other creative techniques. Schools submitted seven photographs of their finished projects along with a statement explaining the inspiration behind their designs.
The contest was piloted in Kentucky in 2024 and expanded into a nationwide program.
Everyone is encouraged to vote daily through Friday.
