The Adair County Fire Department responded to a residential house fire on Saturday at 7:28 p.m. to 4298 Pelham Branch Rd. to a home owned by Sheila Pendleton.
The home received moderate damage. There was 13 firemen on the scene for two hours.
The department also responded to a residential house fire at 11:15 p.m. last Thursday night to Chance Road to a home occupied by Lisa Hadley and owned by Jason Stotts.
Upon arrival there was a fire in the upstairs area of the home. The home received severe damage upstairs. There were 15 firemen on the scene for 2.5 hours.
GRASS FIRES
The Adair County Fire Department responded to two separate fire calls on Monday afternoon.
The first call at 2:06 p.m. sent firefighters to 4617 Campbellsville Rd. to property owned by Donnie Curry. A grass and trash fire damaged about two acres of land. There were 13 firemen on the scene for around 45 minutes.
The second fire occurred at 3:30 p.m. to the intersection of Rose Lane and East 80, when units arrived and searched the area no fire was found.
Firefighters urge everyone, even as wet as the grass is right now, that it is extremely dangerous to attempt to burn anything outside during these high wind days. A small fire can get out of control immediately.
DONATIONS ACCEPTED
Due to a house fire Saturday night Sheila Pendleton (works at Lindsey Wilson College) and her son Michael Dial (works at Hancock Tire) lost their home and all the contents.
Red Cross is accepting donations for the family, such as clothes, household items, furniture, or monetary donations. Items can be dropped off at Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton’s Office, 424 Public Square. Clothes sizes are as follows:
Women’s pants: 6 or 8; tops: medium; shoes: 8.5
Men’s pants: 36x34; tops: xxxlarge
