Charles Nathan Burton, 48, of Columbia, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. He was born in Columbia on February 24, 1975 to Phillip Burton and Vickie Goodin Milby who survives.
Nathan attended the New Hope Separate Baptist Church as a youth and was of the Christian faith. He was known for his tree trimming in the area and always caught everyone’s attention with his adventurous videos of his work. He enjoyed hiking and being outdoors but most of all spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by his wife, Shawnda Popplewell Burton of Columbia; four children, Nathalie, Joseph, Jacob and Seth Burton; a brother, Aaron Burton (Suzy) of Summersville; his paternal grandmother, Rachel Burton; special aunts and uncles, Connie Rich (Floyd), Larry Burton, Janet Burton, Sharon Melton (Chuck), Beverly Powell (Dave), and Becky Wood (Guy); and several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Funeral services will be today, Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the New Hope Cemetery.
Bro. Dean Morris will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeremy DiDonato, Jared Penick, Steven Shepard, Donald Powell, Jr. Joseph and Adam Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews and cousins.
Nathan requests that in lieu of flowers donations be given to his wife and children.
